My contribution
Built the React/TypeScript practice interface, vocabulary review scheduling, daily progression, mistake tracking and browser speech tools across listening, reading, writing and speaking modules.
Engineering decisions
- Separate review scheduling into a typed SRS service that calculates the next interval from a learner's rating, review history and ease factor.
- Persist cards and study statistics in localStorage so practice can resume in the same browser without requiring an account.
- Use browser speech synthesis for shadowing and pronunciation playback, with voice selection based on available English voices.
Testing & evidence
- srsEngine.ts implements rating-based interval updates, next-review dates and local storage of cards and user statistics.
- App.tsx connects practice results to progression and the mistake bank; separate lab components provide the four skill interfaces.
- speech.ts handles voice selection and speech synthesis. Source links allow implementation review; no measured learning-outcome or automated test result is claimed here.
Current limitations & next steps
Progress is local to the browser, with no cross-device account synchronization. Voice quality and availability vary by browser and operating system. Placement and practice feedback are learning aids, not an official IELTS assessment or a guarantee of a band score.

How it works
Client-side modular SPA built with React 19, TypeScript, and Tailwind CSS v4, combining browser-native Web Speech API audio modeling with an automated SuperMemo-inspired Spaced Repetition retention engine.
